Picking a Series Type & Mission

This is all about understanding the story arc your going to go on or explain. Your series needs to have story or no one is going to care.

So the three main types of series are:

  1. Lesson/Tip Series

Every video you share a niche lesson/tips of something you’ve already done or are very good at.

Examples: “30 lessons by 30.” or “Building a 10k business in a month.”

Your still following the arc of the story, it’s just an arc you’ve already completed and our recounting to the audience. This is great for building social proof.

  2. Step by Step Series

This for when you want to achieve something and go on a new story arc.

Examples: “Building a cinematic robot.” or “Learning to cook.”

Every video you share the next step to get X goal. This is perfect for beginners because if you haven’t accomplished a lot in your niche yet, this shows that your dedicated to doing and creating something that would very helpful to other beginners in your niche.

Throughout creating this series it’s crucial that your showing BTS on stories and interacting with the comments. You want followers to feel like they’re helping — this makes them want to see you WIN.

  3. Challenge Series

This are similar to step by step series except you don’t know if it’s going to work and they’re are some level of stakes (time constraint or otherwise.)

Every video you share an update/progress in a challenge you have created:

“Can I make 5k by the end of the year if I’ve never made money online before?” or “Can I grow to 10k followers by my birthday.”

These make the videos have tension, with the beauty of it being that if you fail you can just use that as a story point and pivot or retry. People like perseverance.

However, none of this matters without a MISSION.

Your mission needs to be something admirable that actually helps people, not just “get 100k followers in a year.”

Why does following along benefit them, the world, or others? (not just you.)

BOUNCEBACK PICKLEBALL STRONG MISSION EXAMPLE

This is my friend from high-school, Dillion. Recently I helped him create his series that took his video views from around 5,000 to 171,000+ in 5 days.

His success is for two reasons:

  1. He understand my production principals really well and integrated them into this episode.

  2. His company is bigger than himself AND it’s controversial.

Basically he noticed that when playing pickleball, after a ball cracked it was thrown into the landfill with no good way to recycle it. So he spoke to some Chinese manufactures who have a machine that is able to turn every 1.3 cracked pickleball into a brand new one. So his series now shows how he’s helping the environment AND building a business that pickleball enjoyers will benefit off of.

For me, I want to help creators understand how to package their authentic stories with personal brand in a way that the Instagram algorithm likes.

“Creatormaxxing” was just a silly name for that.

We want to use story to make the value feel lived-in and not AI generated. Your authority comes from your experience, don’t give away tips on things you haven’t done.
